INFORMATION FOR FACULTY
- List of University Resources -this is a list of university resources specific to the area of teaching and instructional enhancement.
- PAES Books & Resources -this is a list of books and materials that are available for PAES faculty to check out - contact Darcy Granello (granello.1@osu.edu) if you would like to take any of these books from the PAES Teaching Resources Library. Please note that descriptions of these books are based on publisher’s reviews, not a review by the PAES Instructional Enhancement Initiative.
- PAES Peer Review of Instruction Document (pdf)Adopted in Spring of 2006, this document guides the peer review process for both tenured and non-tenured faculty
- Classroom Observation Guidelines (updated 2008) (pdf) -in 2002, the PAES Personnel Committee adopted this format for review for classroom observation. If classroom observation is selected as one of the methods for peer review, then this is the format to follow.
Persons being reviewed should complete the information prior to the review.
Faculty completing the review are provided with a structured format to follow.
NOTE: This document was updated in 2008 to reflect the PAES Peer Review of Instruction guidelines. - PAES Certificate of Professional Development in College Teaching (pdf) -in 2003, PAES faculty agreed to issue a certificate to graduate students who completed specific assignments related to college teaching. (updated, September 2009)
- Statements for Syllabi:
- PAES Syllabus Diversity Statement (REQUIRED ON ALL PAES SYLLABI) Dr. Wendy Naumann, and her PAES Diversity Committee, developed a diversity statement for PAES faculty to put on their syllabi, in order to communicate to students the importance we place on diversity and tolerance. The first paragraph is universal to all of PAES. There are two examples of program-specific second paragraphs (one from School Psychology and one from Counselor Education).Faculty and programs are encouraged to develop a second paragraph that emphasizes the importance each profession places on diversity! (as each group develops its own “second paragraph,” why not send them to Darcy - and they can be added to this document. Eventually, we’ll have documentation of how diversity is valued in each of the programs within the school!)
- “Enhanced” Academic Integrity Statement (NOT REQUIRED) includes the necessary information from the university, with a more rich description of what this means for students.
- Mental Health Concerns Statement (NOT REQUIRED) is a statement that encourages students to use available mental health resources.
- Feedback on Your Instruction -this website provides dozens of questions about all aspects of instruction. Click on the ones you want, and it will automatically create a form (that can be downloaded into Word). Print it off, give it to your students, and get a very good feel for how the quarter is going. We STRONGLY recommend this for mid-quarter evaluations.
- Information on the components of a dissertation - a rubric to share with students. (pdf file)
- Summary of SEI Reports. A summary report of SEIs can be secured by sending an email from a faculty member’s own account to: seiadmin@osu.edu with the faculty member’s name, SSN, and the starting quarter for the summary. The subject line should say something like “PT summary.” Per Dr. Ward (POD of PAES P&T Committee), these electronic copies are not acceptable for P&T purposes
