Instructional Technology Support
We recently redesigned the Office of Technology Enhanced Learning (OTEL) website to highlight the services we offer. We list the instructional support we offer as:
- Classroom technology integration support - consultation & training
- Teleconferencing support - VOiP & Polycom
- Distance & hybrid course/program support - consultation & individualized support
- Assistance with complex Carmen tasks
We are available to help instructors learn to use the equipment in the classrooms and labs. If you have never used a SMARTboard you might consider attending one of the SMARTboard trainings we offer near the beginning of Autumn Quarter.
We can help you set up video conferences for classes or for things like dissertation defences. We usually use PolyComs for classes and Skype for small group settings.
We have been providing some individualized support for some distance and hybrid courses. We have been assisting with the development some distance education courses including providing instructional design consultation, setting up Carmen for several multi-section courses, and creating video tutorials for instructors and students.
TELR offers great workshops to introduce people to using Carmen. If you need help with the basics those workshops are good. TELR can also help with individual Carmen set up questions and other issues. We have drop-in help for grades during the finals week each quarter. Other than that we are available to help with complex Carmen setup issues or other very immediate Carmen concerns.
In addition, I have published a spreadsheet of the online tools we are helping to integrate into distance/hybrid courses (or plan to help integrate in the near future). I will update this list as we try new tools.
