Current Position

Associate Professor of Curriculum Studies in the School of Educational Policy and Leadership at The Ohio State University.

Professional and Academic achievements

My current teaching duties include teaching various curriculum courses, as well as two courses created and instituted in African American educational history, both of which are now part of the College’s multicultural course offerings and attracts students from across campus as well as those in the COE’s certification programs.

Current Research:

Exploring the school experiences of middle class African American students from K-12 through the higher education level, to describe the social and racial contexts that operate in suburban and urban middle class schools.

Education

I came to Ohio State University in 1979 in the Early and Middle Childhood Education Department. During a College wide reorganization in 1983, I transferred into the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership, where I currently work. Currently I teach courses in Curriculum Studies, a two course sequence in African American educational history, and a core course in the Cultural Studies Program.
